Changing Florida was a senior capstone project for the journalism program at Florida Gulf Coast University. During the spring semester of 2019, students reported on how southwest Floridians are adapting to the effects of climate change. Our goal was solutions journalism—reporting on what people are doing about issues and how effective those actions are. We aimed to produce professional and engaging journalism that is useful for residents and visitors.
In a unique partnership, NBC-2 journalists are working with us to develop skills used in research, vetting and producing of news stories.
